The Bianchetta Genovese Golfo del Tigullio - Portofino DOC "Oro Cantine Segesta" is a Ligurian white wine produced in purity by Cantine Bregante, with 100% indigenous grapes grown along the slopes rising from the sea, in the hills of the Sestri Levante hinterland.
Tasting notes
This is a dry white wine with a characteristic straw yellow colour. The flavour is full, savoury and the acidity is restrained. The bouquet is excellent and intense, with fruity notes of apple and hints of musk. Serve in tall-stemmed goblets. Recommended serving temperature is 12-14°C.
Food pairings
Its fresh, light flavour makes Bianchetta Genovese a pleasantly drinkable wine, which can also be served at the end of the morning before lunch together with focaccia genovese: this classic combination can also be served as an aperitif, because you can never go wrong with Bianchetta and focaccia genovese, an inseparable pair that has become a true institution of local gastronomy, so loved that it has become part of the imagination of Genoa and the region.
This Ligurian white wine is very versatile, it is the ideal wine to accompany many traditional recipes, from hors d'oeuvres to main courses: perfect with fish dishes, such as fried anchovies or stuffed squid; an excellent choice to serve with vegetable fillings, it can also be proposed with rabbit and white meats. Recommended with pasta dishes with pesto sauce.
The winery
The history of Cantine Bregante began as far back as 1876 in Sestri Levante when the founder of the family bought his first leudo to undertake the business of selling wine along the Mediterranean routes: to facilitate the unloading of the barrels from the boat, which were thrown overboard near the shore, the winery's headquarters at the time were right opposite the beach. In the 1960s, the winery began to vinify in purity the local indigenous vines of the area around Sestri Levante, such as Vermentino, Bianchetta Genovese and Ciliegiolo, which over time became the leaders of the future DOC Golfo del Tigullio - Portofino.
