The most typical Ligurian long pasta, to be enjoyed at least once with Genoese pesto, diced potatoes and green beans (which are boiled together with the pasta): a dish so iconic that it even appeared in the Pixar film 'Luca', set in a fictional Ligurian seaside village.
Being a Ligurian pasta format, trenette can also be used for seafood first course recipes: with a cuttlefish or squid sauce, alla pescatora, or with white fish sauces. Trenette pasta is also excellent with vegetable sauces - fresh and fragrant - and for those who like simplicity, it can be dressed with classic tomato and a few basil leaves (with a sprinkling of grated cheese to taste).
